Hypermobility & EDS Care

Physician-led 5-Step Protocol · The Fascia Institute

Care for the connective-tissue story under your symptoms.

A structured, physician-led protocol developed by Dr. Jacques Courseault for patients living with hypermobility spectrum disorders, Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, POTS, MCAS, and the related connective-tissue conditions that rarely fit a single-specialty workup.

Care for hypermobility, EDS, and related systemic conditions.

Connective tissue conditions don’t stay in one lane. The same biology that makes joints loose can also affect circulation, digestion, the autonomic nervous system, and the body’s response to stress and inflammation. That is why care for HSD and EDS works best when it accounts for the whole picture — not just the joints. Below are the conditions we most commonly evaluate and treat, along with how they tend to show up in everyday life.

01

Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD)

Joint instability, recurring sprains, frequent “tweaks,” and the compensation patterns that develop when joints can’t hold their position reliably. Often the first thing patients notice — and often dismissed as “just being flexible.”

02

Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS)

Connective tissue fragility across multiple joints and systems. Patients often describe widespread pain, easy bruising, soft tissue sensitivity, and a body that feels like it doesn’t repair the way it should.

03

POTS & Dysautonomia

Dizziness on standing, racing heart, heat intolerance, and the deep fatigue of a nervous system struggling to regulate the basics. Often present for years before it’s recognized for what it is.

04

MCAS & Complex Sensitivities

Flushing, histamine reactions, food and medication sensitivities, and inflammatory responses that don’t fit the patterns of typical allergy. Many patients describe reacting to things they never used to react to.

05

Chronic Myofascial Pain

Persistent tightness, trigger points, and pain patterns that don’t match what shows up on imaging. Often coming from the fascia itself — and often still present long after other workups have come back clean.

06

GI Symptoms & Systemic Fatigue

Digestive disruption, food reactivity, nutrient depletion, and the kind of fatigue that builds when the body is constantly working to compensate. Slow recovery from minor stressors is common.

These symptoms can be frustrating, isolating, and slow to be taken seriously. If you have been told everything looks normal but your body insists otherwise, you are not alone — and your experience is not in your head. Our goal is to help you understand the connective-tissue story underneath your symptoms, and to build a care plan that addresses both what you feel and the systems driving it.

How our protocol works.

Hypermobility and connective tissue disorders rarely respond to a standard, single-specialty workup. The same patient often has joint pain, autonomic symptoms, GI involvement, and unusual responses to stress — and those have to be understood together. Our protocol is built to do exactly that: a structured, physician-led evaluation that looks at connective tissue health, movement function, metabolic factors, and long-term care needs as one connected picture.

In Los Angeles, we have adapted the format so that the conversational and diagnostic work — intake, metabolic review, and imaging review — happens by telehealth with our Nurse Practitioner, while the two in-person steps in Beverly Hills are reserved for the work only in-person time can do: a hands-on fascial evaluation with your OxeFit hypermobility assessment, and your physician review, diagnosis, and treatment with Dr. Courseault.

The 5-step protocol

STEP 01

Hypermobility / EDS Intake

Telehealth · Nurse Practitioner

A comprehensive review of your medical history, symptoms, and functional concerns — what your body is doing, what you have already tried, and where you need clarity. For in-state patients, metabolic lab work may be ordered after this step. Out-of-state patients receive lab recommendations in advance so the work can be completed before they arrive.

STEP 02

Metabolic Review

Telehealth · Nurse Practitioner

Lab findings are reviewed to look for the metabolic patterns that often run alongside connective tissue conditions — patterns that can affect tissue repair, energy production, inflammation, and overall resilience. Recommendations are individualized based on what your labs actually show.

STEP 03

Fascial Evaluation & OxeFit Hypermobility Assessment

In Person · Physician · Beverly Hills
Written Report Included

A detailed physical evaluation identifying areas of fascial restriction, tissue dysfunction, and movement-related stress. This is where we begin to see how your body is functioning in real time — information that static imaging alone cannot provide.

Your OxeFit hypermobility assessment is included in this initial evaluation at no additional cost. Using force-plate and 3D motion capture, we objectively measure strength, limb-to-limb symmetry, and load control — the functional data that tells us where an unstable joint is actually being compensated for. You receive a written report of your findings.

STEP 04

Functional Imaging Review

Telehealth · Nurse Practitioner

Ultrasound and functional imaging findings are reviewed with you in a dedicated remote session — clarifying what the images show, what they mean for the diagnostic picture, and how they will shape your final step with Dr. Courseault.

STEP 05

Physician Review, Diagnosis & Treatment

In Person · Dr. Courseault · Beverly Hills

The full picture — history, metabolic findings, imaging, fascial exam, and your OxeFit data — is reviewed by Dr. Courseault to confirm a diagnosis where appropriate and develop a personalized care strategy focused on connective-tissue support, function, and long-term stability. In-office treatment is delivered the same day when indicated.

5-Step Protocol · Investment

Total protocol pricing.

One price covers all five steps — three telehealth sessions with our Nurse Practitioner, your in-person fascial evaluation with OxeFit hypermobility assessment and written report, and your physician review, diagnosis, and treatment with Dr. Courseault.

$2,500
Total · All 5 Steps
50%
$1,250 Due at Booking
50%
$1,250 at First Visit

How payment works. The protocol is $2,500 total. Half ($1,250) is due at the time of booking to reserve your place, and the remaining half ($1,250) is due at the time of your first visit. There are no separate per-step charges.

Payment options. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, along with credit cards, ACH transfers, and personal checks. A 3% processing fee applies to credit card payments — ACH and check payments avoid the fee. We do not accept cash. Appointments paid by check are not officially scheduled until the check is received, either by mail or in person.

Laboratory testing, imaging, procedural treatments, and continuing care are billed separately. For current insurance and billing information specific to your case, please contact our team.

And then — continuing care.

Connective tissue conditions are managed, not cured in a single appointment. After the 5-step protocol, most patients continue with monthly in-person visits during Dr. Courseault’s Beverly Hills weeks — reassessing what has changed, adjusting the plan, and delivering procedural treatment when it is indicated.

When Dr. Courseault is in town

Monthly follow-up visits, Shockwave Therapy, and HUMAN TECAR Therapy, along with procedural care such as Hydrofascia Release™, Fascial Dextrose Prolotherapy, or ProloBoost Dual PRP when indicated.

Available between visits

PEMF therapy and red light therapy are available on an ongoing basis in our Beverly Hills office, so recovery work continues in the weeks between your in-person visits.

Continuing care also includes movement support, nutrition guidance, optional customized supplements, and coordination with your other specialists when needed. The goal, always, is steady, sustainable progress — not a one-time fix.

Who this protocol is for.

Patients living with hypermobility spectrum disorders or Ehlers-Danlos. Patients whose POTS, MCAS, GI symptoms, or fatigue have been treated in isolation when they actually belong to one underlying connective-tissue story. Patients who have done the standard workups, been told their imaging is “clean,” and are still searching for an integrated answer.

If you have been told for years that nothing is wrong while your body has insisted otherwise — you may be exactly the patient this protocol was built to help.

Frequently asked.

What does the $2,500 include?

All five steps of the protocol: three telehealth sessions with our Nurse Practitioner (intake, metabolic review, and functional imaging review), your in-person fascial evaluation with the OxeFit hypermobility assessment and written report, and your in-person physician review, diagnosis, and treatment with Dr. Courseault. Half is due at booking and half at the time of your first visit. Laboratory testing, imaging, procedural treatments, and continuing care are billed separately.

Do I have to come to Beverly Hills for every step?

No. Three of the five steps — the intake, metabolic review, and functional imaging review — are conducted by telehealth with our Nurse Practitioner. Only two steps require in-person time in our Beverly Hills office: the fascial evaluation with your OxeFit assessment, and the physician review and treatment with Dr. Courseault. We designed it this way deliberately so a busy life does not stand between you and being seen.

Is the OxeFit assessment an extra charge?

No. The OxeFit hypermobility assessment is included in your initial evaluation at no additional cost, and you receive a written report of the findings. It gives us objective strength, symmetry, and load-control data to pair with the hands-on fascial exam, so your care plan is built on measurements rather than impressions alone.

Do I need a formal EDS diagnosis to enter the protocol?

No. Many of our patients arrive without a formal diagnosis — sometimes after years of being told their imaging is normal. The intake and metabolic review are designed to characterize what is actually happening in your body, and Step 5 is where Dr. Courseault confirms a diagnosis when appropriate.

What if I am out of state?

Out-of-state patients are welcome. The three telehealth steps happen wherever you are. The two in-person steps are scheduled in Beverly Hills, typically grouped together when possible to minimize travel. You will receive lab recommendations in advance so the work can be completed before you arrive.

Is the protocol covered by insurance?

Coverage varies by plan and by service type. Our team will review your specific situation when you schedule and provide guidance on what is and is not billable. HSA and FSA cards are accepted for the protocol fee.

What happens after the 5 steps?

Most patients continue with monthly in-person visits scheduled during Dr. Courseault’s Beverly Hills weeks. Shockwave and HUMAN TECAR therapy are offered during those weeks, and procedural treatments (Fascial Dextrose Prolotherapy, Hydrofascia Release™, or ProloBoost Dual PRP) are scheduled as Dr. Courseault recommends, based on what your protocol revealed. Between visits, PEMF and red light therapy remain available in our Beverly Hills office.

How long does the full protocol take?

Timing varies based on lab turnaround, scheduling, and individual case complexity. The telehealth steps are spaced to allow time for labs and imaging review between them, and the in-person steps are scheduled around Dr. Courseault’s procedure days in Beverly Hills.

Is this the same protocol as your New Orleans clinic?

It is the same physician-led framework Dr. Courseault developed and refined at our New Orleans flagship — adapted in Los Angeles to use telehealth for the conversational and diagnostic steps, keeping your in-person time reserved for the work that actually requires it.

Connective tissue conditions do not stay in one lane. Many athletes have this body type as well. Care that works has to account for the whole picture — not just the joints.

Ready to begin?

The 5-step Hypermobility & EDS protocol is $2,500 total — 50% at booking, 50% at your first visit — and is scheduled around your timeline and Dr. Courseault’s procedure days in Beverly Hills. We will help you find a fit and walk you through what to expect at each step.
