AURA · Beverly Hills
When the surgery was a success
but the recovery wasn’t.
A physician-led, ultrasound-guided program for patients living with tight platysmaplasty results, painful scar tissue, and the complications cosmetic surgery alone cannot resolve. Delivered entirely in-house at FIT Los Angeles.
Most patients arrive at AURA three to twelve months after a neck lift, platysmaplasty, abdominoplasty, breast surgery, or other procedure — happy with the surgical decision, but unable to move past the firmness, banding, tethering, or chronic discomfort that has refused to resolve. AURA exists for exactly this stage of recovery.
01 · The Problem
A tight neck lift is not a cosmetic problem.
It is a biological one.
In Beverly Hills and across Los Angeles, platysmaplasty and lower facelift are among the most refined aesthetic procedures performed today. The technique works. The result, in most cases, is everything it promised to be. But for a meaningful subset of patients, the months that follow do not unfold on schedule. Fibrotic bands persist. The cervicomental contour stiffens. Skin tethers to deeper structures. The throat-tightness sensation simply will not quit.
This is not a failure of your surgeon. The platysmaplasty literature — including the modern review by Pelle-Ceravolo and colleagues (Plast Reconstr Surg, 2017) — explicitly recognizes persistent banding, palpable cord formation, and prolonged firmness as established post-operative phenomena requiring active management. The same is documented across cosmetic surgical recovery generally in the hypertrophic scar literature (Berman et al., 2017). What it requires is a physician trained to read the tissue, image it, and intervene in it.
“Most of these patients have been told it just takes time. What they need is not more time — they need someone to look at the tissue, find what is restricted, and treat it.”
02 · Who Comes to AURA
The patients we treat — and the conditions we address.
AURA was built around platysmaplasty and neck lift recovery, where the demand for refined scar management is highest. The same principles, modalities, and clinical pathway apply to any patient with post-surgical fibrosis or chronic scar discomfort — cosmetic or otherwise.
Cosmetic Surgery Recovery
- —Tight platysmaplasty or lower face/neck lift
- —Persistent platysmal banding or “cords”
- —Post-abdominoplasty fibrosis & tethering
- —Breast surgery capsular firmness & pain
- —Liposuction irregularities & nodular scar
- —Brachioplasty & thigh lift scar discomfort
Non-Cosmetic Surgery
- —Post-orthopedic surgery scar tissue & adhesions
- —Thyroidectomy & parathyroid surgery firmness
- —C-section & pelvic surgery scar pain
- —Hernia repair adhesions
- —Post-trauma fibrosis & deep restriction
- —Chronic post-radiation tissue fibrosis
If your concern is not on this list, that does not mean we cannot help. Every AURA evaluation begins with imaging — what we find on ultrasound determines what we recommend.
03 · The Suite
Five regenerative modalities.
One physician. One plan.
No single intervention resolves complex post-surgical fibrosis. AURA layers five complementary modalities — every one delivered in-house, every one selected by Dr. Courseault based on what your imaging reveals.
01
Ultrasound-Guided Prolotherapy
Precision hydrodissection of focal adhesions — the defining intervention for tethered fascial planes after platysmaplasty and other surgical recoveries. Mechanism and clinical evidence reviewed by Lam et al. (2020).
02
Human TECAR
448 kHz endogenous radiofrequency that activates fibroblasts, softens fibrosis, and restores fascial glide from within the tissue itself. Mechanism characterized in Hernandez-Bule et al. (2014).
03
Focused Shockwave
Acoustic pressure waves that disrupt dense, calcified, or chronically fibrotic tissue and stimulate neovascularization at depths where softer therapies plateau. See our focused shockwave page.
04
PEMF Therapy
Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy that modulates cellular recovery, inflammation, and microcirculation across the entire treatment arc. See our PEMF therapy page.
05
Photobiomodulation
Red and near-infrared light therapy that supports wound healing, collagen quality, and anti-inflammatory signaling — reviewed comprehensively by Hamblin (2017).
Layered with metabolic medicine. AURA pairs the physical modalities above with personalized supplementation guided by Genomics Performance Screening — measuring methylation status, B-vitamin and glutathione capacity, and inflammatory markers that directly govern fibroblast performance and scar collagen quality (Antoniades et al., 2009).
04 · The Process
A measured, physician-led arc
from evaluation to result.
I
Comprehensive Evaluation
Your first visit is a focused 60-minute consultation with Dr. Courseault. We review your surgical history, examine the tissue clinically, perform high-resolution diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound of the affected region, and complete a localized fascial mapping assessment to identify exactly where fibrosis, adhesion, and restriction live.
Some patients are appropriate to begin a first treatment during this same visit — a decision made together once the imaging is complete.
II
Personalized Plan & Itemized Estimate
Within three business days of your evaluation, you receive a written treatment plan and an itemized cost estimate. The plan integrates the modalities indicated for your specific tissue findings — a typical AURA pathway combines a prolotherapy series, TECAR, and one or more of shockwave, PEMF, and photobiomodulation, with Genomics Performance Screening when warranted. Customized supplementation may be recommended.
III
Layered, In-House Treatment
All treatment is delivered at FIT Los Angeles. Prolotherapy series are typically spaced two to four weeks apart and may require multiple sessions over several months — each case is individual. Adjunctive injections — including PRP, hyaluronic acid (HA), or corticosteroid — may be incorporated when indicated and are quoted separately.
Between injections, TECAR, shockwave, PEMF, and red light sessions advance the tissue without breaching the skin.
IV
Reassessment & Maintenance
We re-image at structured intervals to confirm that what we feel and what you feel is matched by what we see on ultrasound. Most patients transition into a maintenance cadence once the structural change is durable — periodic check-ins, occasional sessions at flare points, ongoing metabolic support.
05 · The Initial Evaluation
Begin where every
AURA pathway begins.
An hour with Dr. Courseault. High-resolution ultrasound imaging of your affected tissue. Localized fascial mapping. A clinical conversation about your surgery, your symptoms, and what your tissue is actually doing — followed within three business days by a written plan and itemized cost estimate.
When findings allow, the first treatment can be delivered during this same visit.

A written Good Faith Estimate is provided within three business days of any scheduled service.
06 · An Honest Note on Timeline
This is a process, not a procedure.
Every case is individual.
We do not promise dramatic before-and-afters in two weeks. A prolotherapy series may require many sessions over several months. TECAR effects are cumulative across a treatment arc, not delivered in a single visit. Some patients move quickly; others require deeper, longer support. We tell you what we are seeing on ultrasound, what we are doing in clinic, and what we recommend next — every step of the way.
We do not revise surgical results — that is the work of your aesthetic surgeon, and we coordinate with their office whenever appropriate. What we do is optimize the biological environment in which their surgical result is healing. Plastic and facial-plastic surgeons across Los Angeles increasingly refer patients to AURA because they want structured biological recovery support rather than discharging patients to time and hope.
“The patients who recover most completely are the ones who treat this as a months-long discipline, not a quick fix. We can build the plan. The discipline is yours.”
07 · The Physician
Dr. Jacques Courseault leads every AURA evaluation and procedure personally.
Founder of The Fascia Institute and Treatment Center®, Dr. Courseault is a Tulane-trained physiatrist whose practice is built around high-resolution musculoskeletal ultrasound, regenerative orthopedics, and ultrasound-guided procedural medicine. He developed Fascial Mapping® and Hydrofascia Release™ as proprietary techniques within the broader Fascia Performance Program.
AURA is the natural extension of that work into post-surgical scar tissue medicine — where the anatomy is delicate, the imaging matters, and the same physician owns the case from first ultrasound to last injection. Every prolotherapy procedure on this page is performed by Dr. Courseault. Every ultrasound is read by him. Every treatment plan carries his signature.
